What are you doing this weekend?

I don’t know if everyone is this fortunate, but my company gave us Good Friday off this week. I’m extremely excited to have the day off and...work harder than I would at work.

It gives me time to start working on the old BMW (provided all my parts make it through the snow storm). I will be attempting a resuscitation after it has sat for a few years. This will determine if the rest of the project is worth moving forward.

So, Oppo, do you have the day off? What are your plans? What will you be wrenching on? What are you doing for Easter weekend?

I’ve got Friday off and a bunch of project car welding needing done. I also have a depleted work ethic, some sleep debt, a new Fallout 4 expansion, and some lovely lovely ear infection. Not making any predictions.

I’m replacing our old saggy queen size spring mattress with a king size memory foam deal from Amazon that comes shipped vacuumed down into a small box. Friday night we’re disassembling the old bed and getting out of of the room, shampooing the carpet, sleeping in the guest room. Saturday once the carpet dries it’s time to assemble the new platform bed and put the mattress on it so it can poof up. Hopefully we can give it at least 12 hours before we lie on it. Good times.

I have the day off and my 07 Mercury Milan Daily Driver/Rally Car (It’s awesome I get to type that now) will be getting 6 new front control arms (with applicable new ball joints), new tie rod ends, easy to install quick struts for the front and rear shocks.

If I have time I’ll also be doing the spark plugs/intake manifold gaskets (sideways V6 means taking off the upper intake to replace rear spark plugs).

Oh and then I’ll limp it slowly to get an alignment.

Where I am, public transportation is spotty at best. You have to take buses and I have no idea where the closest one even is to me. There’s also the LIRR but that requires a car getting there...mostly people use it to go to NYC .

Agreed. It’s great when you’ve just cooked it, and the leftovers can be used for all sorts of tasty stuff like a replacement (or accompaniment) to bacon in the morning, used for sandwiches, or chopped and thrown into fried rice.

Turkey is bland by comparison, which is why you have gravy and stuff. Ham is just great by itself.

Installing 220 plugs in my garage for my welder, and running normal 120 plugs for lights and the other equipment. If all goes well maybe bringing the Mali around to start working on it again.

Its a “floating holiday” for me, which means I can take it off if I want or use it as an extra vacation day. So I’m definitely taking the day off!

I’ll be getting my MR2 ready for autocross. New HP brake pads & high temp fluid, reinstalling the velocity stacks, and fiddling with the alignment to see if I can get enough negative camber.

Good Friday is a statutory holiday in Canada so basically everything is closed. Some people get Monday off as well.

I will, weather permitting, fix the rear hatch on the 4Runner. New latch mechanism and a new trim piece that holds the switch and license plate lamps. Maybe I’ll even have time to wash it...

Chicken is better, and ribs are a great alternative, too. Turkey takes a while to cook, ribs take a while to cook, might as well eat something worthwhile. Pork ribs are great but I think my favourite rib is the beef shortrib.

lol, I’m taking it Rally Crossing. With zero research I’m about 150% positive I’m the first ever to rally a Milan. It will probably surprise you that I’ll have around a 40 horsepower (or more) advantage of anyone else in the FWD Stock class.

I’m going to be working at the call center Saturday, Sunday, and Monday - having rich people who have the days off call in to order $200 cashmere sweaters and say “I can’t believe you have to work Easter weekend!”

I’m also going to be looking at the $1400 bill for income taxes and sobbing into my hands.

If I find the time, I’d like to have an existential crisis and hopefully slip ever-closer to the soft embrace of madness.
